Self-Care Requisites for People with Intestinal Ostomies: A Scoping Review

Self-care is one of the main factors altered in life a person with an ostomy. requisites nursing support are necessary. Objectives: To map self-care for people intestinal ostomies their adaptive process, guided by Orem’s theory. Materials and methodology: A scoping review was conducted between May June 2022, which studies published from 2000 to 2022 were selected, based on deficit The sources evidence used Medical Literature Analysis Retrieval System Online, Cinahl, Scopus, Latin American Caribbean Health Sciences Literature, Nursing database, Índice Bibliográfico Español en Ciencias de la Salud, Web Science, Scientific Electronic Library Brazilian Digital Theses Dissertations, Open Access Repositories Portugal, Canada, DART-Europe E-Theses Portal, National ETD Portal. Studies presenting at least requisite ostomies, whether or not they addressed theory, that full included. We followed recommendations Joanna Briggs Institute PRISMA International Guide, registered Science Framework (10.17605/OSF.IO/XRH5K). following descriptors search strategies used: (ostomy OR colostomy ileostomy stoma) AND (self-care self-management) (adaptation adjustment). Results: final sample composed 87 studies. In universal requisites, category “nutritional aspects” predominated, most frequent “eat regularly follow balanced diet” (23; 26.4%); developmental prevalent “stoma peristomal skin care” “assess integrity” (27; 31.0%); health deviation predominant “choice collection equipment adjuvant products” “use hydrocolloid powder absorb moisture cases dermatitis” (13; 14.9%). Conclusions: study contributes guiding assistance ostomy, improving learning process. However, new intervention still needed.
